Dholera Metro Rail Project

Dholera Metro Rail is to facilitate fast movement between Ahmedabad and Dholera. The alignment of the MRTS corridor is proposed to be along the Ahmadabad-Dholera expressway.

The Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) between Ahmadabad and the DSIR is part of the plan to develop self-sustained rail based transportation system in order to provide connectivity both within the Dholera Smart City and between the Dholera SIR and Ahmadabad for the movement of workers. Dholera Smart City will have its own self-sustaining eco-system consisting of economic drivers through industrialisation, utility & logistic infrastructure, Social Infrastructure including education, healthcare and other public amenities.

DMICDC, with the support of the Government of Gujarat, plans to create an economically and socially balanced new-age city with world class infrastructure and highest quality-of-life standards with sustainability in the urban form including a sustainable urban transportation system within and mobile/efficient regional connectivity with neighbouring cities and the rest of the country.

The land acquisition for the project is over along with that for the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway project of the National Highways Authority of India. The monorail will be an elevated structure parallel to the expressway.

A total of eight stations are proposed on this light rail corridor. Of which seven will be elevated and one will be at grade. The proposed stations will be built at Visalpur, Dholka Chainage, Vataman Chainage, Pipli, Navagam, Ambli, Kadipur and Dholera CBD.
